I am nearly 4 months now, and looking a little bumpy! After this past weekend, it just seemed to pop out a bit more. I had the best night sleep so far, on Tuesday. Typically, sleep is not looked forward to, because nothing seems like a comfortable position. It’s still taking some getting used to, to sleep on my side and utilize the body pillow.
We had an appointment this morning. It worried me a little when our midwife took awhile to locate the baby. We heard a lot of swishing and occasional bursts of louder sounds. Apparently, the baby is quite the mover and kicker! Our midwife described the baby as “ornery”. Oh, dear! I suppose that’s like mother and father! Next visit is when we find out if we’re having a boy or girl! Can’t wait! For now, the skin of the baby is still translucent. One of my coworker said it’s like a Vietnamese spring roll. LOL.
Current cravings: SOUP! and donuts :-X (not together)
I’ve been drinking a lot of soup! Clam chowder, French Onion, chicken noodle…mmmm, now I’m thinking about baked potato soup.
What are you doing inside Mom’s tummy?! I suspect that when I can start to feel your movements, it’s going to be a lot of action! It sure was hard to locate your heartbeat, this morning. I hope you’re doing well in there. I am doing my part to eat healthy and only what’s allowed. No (raw) sushi is the hardest for Mommy! I’ve been thinking about your room a lot, lately. Your dad and I want to keep it classy and fairly neutral. I wonder how you’ll be with Titus, or rather, how Titus will be with you. He’s a loving dog. Anyways, Mommy and Daddy pray for you everyday.
On Monday, we took the announcement Facebook public. The response? Overwhelming to say the least! We hit the 600-mark with ‘Likes’ and I figured that was it, but we are now at 914 ‘Likes’! It’s funny, your dad and I were joking that people like us having a baby more than they liked us being engaged, because our engagement story only resulted in about 450 ‘Likes’. (When you grow up and get a Facebook, remember that ‘Likes’ do not equal real life. Facebook “approval” should really only be taken at face value. Don’t get social media anxiety!) BUT, it’s just crazy because I make it a point to only have people I know on some level, as Facebook friends. So that many people we know, are excited about your pending arrival! Just with Mom’s sorority alone, you have so many aunties ready to spoil you! We also joked that you are Facebook famous and trending. Haha. This was the announcement made by your mom’s sweet graphic design skills:
Funny story about the announcement. We used an engagement picture, a wedding picture, and the bottom picture was taken in our backyard! I saw this on Pinterest and got inspired. What’s funny is the last picture was taken before Mommy had to go to work (it was like 9am), and the camera was on a tripod set with a self timer, sitting between the back door and top stair. We did a whole bunch of takes and Dad was tired and so thrilled (sarcasm, intended)!
We can’t wait to find out if you are going to be a boy or girl! Mostly so Mommy can start thinking about your room, and also so people stop making predictions. Most of the “predictions” are based off Old Wives tales, anyway, without any proven facts. I don’t like arbitrary guesses; I like to know for sure. The idea has been brought up about a gender reveal party. Dad really likes the concept, but I’m not sure how it can happen. We have family all over the map!
Current cravings: Chinese soy milk
Thanks for not being shy on Sunday! Mommy has been praying that we could find your heartbeat at home, so it was so comforting when we did! I was so happy! I have a handy phone app that updates me on your progress. We are excited to learn your eyes are developing and you now have fingerprints! You are currently the size of a peach, until about Friday. Every morning when we wake up, I picture you laying on your dad’s chest and it makes me smile.
August 1st was an eventful day! It marked 12 weeks of carrying you in my tummy. This also meant the first trimester was ending, which was the agreed upon time for Mom and Dad to announce to family. Lastly, it was the night of the OneRepublic concert, a birthday gift to your Dad. (It was a blast, by the way! I wonder if you heard any of it?)
Announcement Day turned into Announcement Weekend, since many family members were unavailable at the time we called. It was an exciting time, and I thought I’d share some of my favorite responses.
Grandpa Larry – “NO WAY!! That’s awesome!”
Great Grandpa Sid – “That’s the best news I’ve heard all day…ALL YEAR!”
Grandma Marcia – “You’ll be a beautiful, stylish pregnant lady. Larry is ecstatic!!”
But of course everyone we told congratulated us, and are happy. You have so many fans already, that can’t wait to meet you!
Current cravings: Chinese dumplings, ramen
I think telling the families about you, has made everything even more real. We bought an at-home doppler, and have been practicing using it. We hope to be able to locate your heartbeat at home, and listen to you every week. Its a tricky thing to use! Are you being shy in there? I’ve been feeling very stressed when driving. There are a lot of crazy drivers, and I’ve been trying to control my lead foot and road rage, because of you. I think I’m going to have an anxiety attack the first time we put you in a car! Stay safe inside Mommy’s tummy! Daddy says he loves you and wants to meet you, already.
